Jessica Knappett is to star in a new Channel 4 Comedy Blaps pilot called Hullraisers.
Written by Lucy Beaumont, currently seen alongside husband Jon Richardson in spoof docu-sitcom Meet The Richardsons, the comedy is set in Hull, Yorkshire, and was filmed in January.
Beaumont's home city, Hull previously played a pivotal role as the setting for her popular BBC radio sitcom To Hull And Back, which ran from 2014 to 2018.
Comedy Blaps is the broadcaster's pilot scheme for trying out new comedy formats with one-off and short episodes, published online.
Little information is known about Hullraisers at present, but British Comedy Guide has been able to ascertain that the "teaser pilot" was filmed in January by production company Fable Pictures, with Lisa Mitchell producing and Ian FitzGibbon directing.
FitzGibbon's previous credits include Moone Boy, Damned, Raised By Wolves and Threesome.
Knappett, also from Yorkshire, lives between the county and Los Angeles, where her composer husband is based. She previously wrote and starred in four series of her own E4 sitcom, Drifters, about a group of twenty-something female friends who return to their home town after university and struggle to find decent employment.
She has also appeared in Taskmaster, Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, Judge Romesh, and The Inbetweeners Movie.
Channel 4 is expected to reveal details of its next round of Comedy Blaps later this year.
