Netflix has ordered another six episodes of After Life.
The sitcom, created, written, directed by and starring Ricky Gervais, focuses on a man struggling to cope after his wife's death.
Series 1, which was released on Netflix in March, has been met with widespread praise from viewers and the press.
Speaking about the success of the first series and news the show will return, Gervais says: "I have never had a reaction like this before. It's been insane. And heartwarming. But now I have to make sure the second season is even better so I'll probably have to work much harder than usual. Annoying really."
Series 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2020.
Starring alongside Gervais in Series 1 were Ricky Gervais, Kerry Godliman, Tom Basden, Ashley Jensen, Roisin Conaty, Tony Way, Mandeep Dhillon, David Bradley and a number of other well-known British comic actors.
Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos comments: "After Life has moved audiences from laughter to tears around the world and we are thrilled to announce that Ricky Gervais will be back with a second season on Netflix. We are so proud to play host to Ricky's brilliant stand-up comedy, specials, original films and series and join in the joy of the fans with his latest hit."
