Frankie Boyle to return to iPlayer with post-election special
Frankie Boyle is to make a new comedy special for BBC iPlayer.
The new programme follows the success of Frankie Boyle's Referendum Autopsy in September 2014, in which the comic dissected the debate surrounding and results of the recent Scottish independence referendum.
With a UK-wide General Election to be held on Thursday 7th May, Frankie Boyle's Election Autopsy will be available on iPlayer ten days later.
The BBC says: "The show features Frankie at his brilliant best doing stand-up, review, discussion and audience interaction - all in an attempt to make sense of the recent General Election.
"Throughout the show, Frankie makes a series of bold and often outrageous statements about the vote. He's joined by a range of guests including comics and experts, who are on hand to take him to task over his claims - before the audience decide whether he's right or wrong."
The programme will be produced for the BBC by Zeppotron. Tickets to be in the audience at the East London venue are expected to be made available later in April.
Frankie Boyle's Election Autopsy will be available from 9pm on Sunday 17th May 2015.
The show is one of a number of iPlayer shows announced by the BBC. Other offerings include Matt Berry voicing over more archive footage for a series called Matt Berry Does...; a series of sketches celebrating Muslim culture, called Fast Cuts; and a documentary in which Jo Brand meets Grayson Perry.
The BBC also revealed that it's Funny Valentines comedy short offerings have so far notched up over 1.3m requests on the iPlayer. This has triggered the BBC to plan for another batch in 2016.
