John Henshaw and Mark Benton star in Educating Yorkshire spoof
A new comedy pilot spoofing the TV documentary series Educating Yorkshire features John Henshaw and Mark Benton.
The Early Doors actors lead the cast in Educating Bitchfield, a 28 minute sitcom pilot filmed at Thornhill Community Academy, the school at which the hit Channel 4 documentary series was recorded.
The project has been written by Lee Otway and Ross Marshall. Otway, who is perhaps best known for playing David in Hollyoaks and his role in The Syndicate, has also acted as Producer and Director on the pilot.
Educating Bitchfield focuses on a struggling school that looks set to close. Henshaw plays Mr Farenheight, with Benton as Mr Lister and Otway as Mr Burgess. Also appearing in the cast list are Louis Emerick (Last Of The Summer Wine), Paul Popplewell (Inside Men), Scott Wright (Shameless), Laura Jane Matthewson, Suzanne Collins and David Peel.
Post production has just been finished on the pilot, and the plan is now to pitch it to broadcasters.
Lee Otway and Ross Marshall, talking to BCG, say: "The script is pretty much Shameless meets Educating Yorkshire via The Inbetweeners. The pilot has been particularly well received and we look forward to pushing forward with it."
Speaking about the cast involved, Otway adds: "We are over the moon that so many well respected actors gave up their time to be involved, simply because they believed in the script. I have followed their careers in some cases for years, so it was a pleasure to be working with an array of northern talent."
