Pappy's Flatshare Slamdown to be developed for TV
Pappy's Flatshare Slamdown, the hit panel show podcast, could become a TV show.
Hat Trick, the production company behind shows such as Have I Got News For You, have optioned the format in the hope of turning it into a TV series.
The company are hosting a run through at the RADA Studios in London tonight (27th May 2014) to test out how the panel show could be adapted for television.
Pappy's Flatshare Slamdown, devised by the sketch trio alongside producer Ben Walker, has been praised for its anarchic energy. Recorded in front of a live audience and published by British Comedy Guide, the show is hosted by Matthew Crosby with Tom Parry and Ben Clark acting as team captains. Games played include a round in which the teams must argue for or against an issue a member of the audience has.
The blurb explains: "Set in Pappy's flat - with landlord Matthew Crosby in charge, we'll see unruly tenants Ben Clark and Tom Parry battle to avoid doing annoying household chores. To help them in this exciting high-stakes contest they force their houseguests (special guest comedians) to take sides and help them fight it out over a number of stupid and hilarious games.
Launched in 2011, so far there have been four series of Pappy's Flatshare Slamdown. Guests have included Jon Richardson, Bridget Christie and Rufus Hound.
This news comes as the second series of Badults, the sitcom written by and starring Pappy's, is set to be broadcast. The new six-episode series starts on BBC Three on Monday.
If tonight's run-through is considered a success, a full pilot episode will be filmed. Pappy's Flatshare Slamdown will continue as a podcast, with a new episode due to be released shortly to tie in with the new run of Badults.
