Marjolein Robertson has released her first stand-up special, via YouTube.

Marj is the Shetland-born comedian's breakthrough show, which she premiered at the 2023 Edinburgh Festival before then taking it on tour. A story of three strands, it intertwines stand-up routines and a magical folktale to reveal a story of domestic abuse.

The special was recorded on location in The Stand comedy club in Glasgow.

The description explains: "The run of dates in Edinburgh and on tour across the UK fuelled a dialogue for those who have been in abusive relationships, and within the show it offers sign-posting for anyone who finds themselves in this difficult place. Marjolein hopes that by releasing this special for free on YouTube it will provide not just an hour of laughter, but help to anyone who is affected by this issue."

Robertson herself notes: "There is a sudden shift in the show, the pacing changes, the style, but it's written for those who are affected. I worked through the latter section with a therapist to ensure it provides hope for anyone watching. I myself was overwhelmed by the responses to this show at the Fringe and on tour. Every day afterwards I was approached by those who, heartbreakingly, had similar stories. I just hope this can help people. And also, provide a laugh. That too."
