Harriet Dyer releases Trigger Warning stand-up special online
Harriet Dyer has released her debut filmed stand-up special on the internet.
Trigger Warning is described as "quite the harrowing tale, one you won't forget in a hurry" and also "far funnier than it should be".
The award-winning comic and mental health advocate first performed Trigger Warning at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe, where the show picked up critical acclaim and won the Neurodiversity Representation Award.
Dyer filmed the special, which can be watched below, at a pop up space in Bristol in March 2023 created by Viv Gordon Company, the organisation that aims to increase visibility, voice and community with adult survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA).
Speaking to British Comedy Guide, Dyer says: "I realise everyone says this, but this is by far the best show I've done; perhaps will ever do. It served a real purpose in coming to terms, making peace and most importantly finding hilarity in a lot of trauma. All in one coherent story about a paper round too.
"What comes with performing something so personal though is I've hit a wall where I've not got it in me to be able to perform it anymore. During Edinburgh Fringe the amazing Viv and Kate from Viv Gordon Company came to my show, after I heard about all they do with CSA survivors and performing this show at their pop up space at The People's Republic of Stokes Croft CIC, Bristol, early this year was that. Bristol crowds tend to be lovely anyway but this bunch really 'got it' so when I was told it was filmed and I had naturally come to the end of being able to perform this show, it was the perfect one to wang out."
