Tom Ward lands "charity shop Taskmaster" series for Channel 4
Tom Ward has landed a Channel 4 series that could broadly be described as a charity shop Taskmaster.
In Funraisers, the stand-up and former charity shop manager will assign two up-and-coming comedians or influencers to join him in his charity shop HQ, where he will assign them anarchic, nerve-testing tasks using donated items.
Encouraging them to "abandon their sense of shame", they will take to the streets of a small, unsuspecting town to complete his commands.
The six-part series will launch on Channel 4's digital channels, including its YouTube, Facebook, Snap, Instagram and TikTok accounts.
Matt Campion and Morgan Jones are executive producing Funraisers for Spirit Studios (The Stand Up Sketch Show).
Last year Ward made the Channel 4 digital series No Instructions with Spirit, in which he and his guest would open a box and compete to complete a baffling task, with no instructions.
Ward has previously spoken of how much he loved working in a charity shop for Romanian orphans in London before becoming a stand-up. "It had become my obsession" he told fellow comic Cariad Lloyd on her Griefcast podcast. "I loved it so much ... every day I was there."
