Pitch It Good: Our top five episodes

If you've been following the London-based comedy podcast Pitch It Good, you'll know hosts Jim Hooker and Paul Ormerod specialise in derailing comedians' movie pitches.

As they prepare for their next live recording, we asked the duo to give us five standout episodes that would act as a good starting point for new listeners.

Here are their selections:

1. Elf Lyons' Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes (Episode 43)

Elf pitches a chaotic comedy about a classic night out gone terribly wrong. When influencers mix with partygoers, the line between "living in the moment" and drinking the influencer Kool-Aid blurs. Do our heroes survive the wild world of social media obsession and keep it real, or get swept up in the hype?

2. Christmas Special with Charlie Vero-Martin & Margaret Cabourn-Smith (Episode 45)

This festive episode has it all: a murder mystery set in 1920s New York City, a murderous Santa Claus, and a musical finale courtesy of special guest Margaret Cabourn-Smith, who performs her fantastic version of Feliz Navidad.

3. Roman Harris's Sweet Dreams Are Made of Tea (Episode 37)

Roman pitches a gripping crime thriller in which two detectives - separated by borders but united by supernatural powers - team up to solve a series of mysterious killings in 1990s Leeds.

4. Carwyn Blayney's Murder on the M4 (Episode 26)

Carwyn delivers a tale that's as gripping as it is groovy. When a jazz band's tour turns deadly with the murder of a bandmate, the remaining members embark on a detective tour de force along the M4. From service station sleuthing to motorway mysteries, they face a cast of unusual suspects and unexpected detours.

5. Ricky McCormack's No Pie For Me Argentina (Episode 42)

Ricky pitches a love-infused spy thriller with a dash of 70s British comedy hijinks. When the Falkland Islands are invaded, chaos ensues and secret agents scramble to save the day - but in this high-stakes game, could family bonds emerge as the real victor?

Pitch It Good is available on all popular podcast platforms and has gone from the mics to the stage, with four live shows at the Museum of Comedy and the Edinburgh Fringe with Gilded Balloon. Their next show will be at 21 Soho on Saturday 1st February featuring special guest Josh James. Tickets via pitchitgoodpod.com
