Series 1, Episode 11 - The Hotelier and Nurse Who Worked The Battlefield
Born in 1805 in Jamaica, Mary Seacole learned to become a "Doctress" from her mother who owned a hotel. She later used those skills on the battlefields of the Crimean War by both building a hotel and tending to the wounded. It was an extraordinary life!
