BAFTA TV Awards - 2012 nominees announced

BAFTA Award

Rev, Twenty Twelve and Friday Night Dinner are among the shows represented in the nominations for this year's prestigious British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards.

No single comedy leads the BAFTA nominations, but many programmes have achieved two nods this year.

Here is a full run down of the comedy and entertainment related categories:

Elsewhere in the nominations, Martin Freeman has been nominated in the 'Supporting Actor' category for his role in Sherlock, whilst Miranda Hart is up for 'Best Supporting Actress' for her role in Call The Midwife.

Monty Python linked comedy drama Holy Flying Circus (pictured) is nominated for 'Best Single Drama', whilst Channel 4's gritty comic drama Shameless is in the 'Soap & Continuing Drama' category, and E4's comic drama Misfits has been nominated for both the 'Drama Series' and 'New Media' awards, the latter of which also has Psychoville as a nominee.

It should also be noted Celebrity Juice and Fresh Meat are two of the candidates in the running for the public-voted 'Audience Award' category. You can vote for this award via BAFTA's YouTube channel

The results of the British Academy Television Awards will be announced live on BBC One on Sunday 27th May 2012, with Dara O'Briain hosting the show for the first time.
