Stand-up comedian Sarah Millican looks set to get her own BBC Two series. The channel is set to record a trial episode of The Sarah Millican Show in Manchester next week.

The programme, which will mix stand-up comedy and music, has the following synopsis: "Sarah Millican is in the mood to make the nation feel a bit better. Her way. Welcome to The Sarah Millican Show, her very own comedy show, which will use the power of stand-up and a good tune to heal us all."

The pilot will be made by So Television, Graham Norton's production company, which also makes The Graham Norton Show and hit CBBC sketch show Sorry, I've Got No Head.

So Television say: "The hottest new comedy star on the circuit is making a pilot with us. The show will be built around her unique and brilliant comedy style and will be recorded in Manchester in front of a large studio audience."

Talking to British Comedy Guide, Sarah said: "I am very excited to be working on a TV pilot for the BBC. The combination of So Television and the BBC makes me feel like I'm in very funny safe hands"

Millican's television and radio career has steadily been on the up ever since she won Best Newcomer at the 2008 if.comedy awards (now better known as The Edinburgh Comedy Awards) for Sarah Millican's Not Nice, her Edinburgh Festival Fringe show in which she talked about her divorce.

Since 2008, Sarah Millican has appeared on a number of TV comedy shows, including Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week and Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow. Last year she headlined an episode of Dave's One Night Stand, and her hit Radio 4 comedy show - Sarah Millican's Support Group - is now into its second series. Millican is also a recognisable face to ITV daytime viewers, as in January 2011 she joined panel of Loose Women, and appears on the chat show on a semi-regular basis.

Millican is also set to go on a big nationwide tour between October 2011 and April 2012. Details
