Coming Of Age returns to BBC Three
We can reveal that BBC Three's teen-based sitcom Coming Of Age has been recommissioned.
Writer Tim Dawson - who was just 19 when the show was piloted in 2007 - is penning 8 episodes for the third series, which is currently pencilled in to be recorded toward the end of 2010, and broadcast in early 2011.
Dawson, speaking exclusively to the British Comedy Guide, said: "I'm delighted Coming Of Age was such a hit with viewers and can't wait to start work on the new series. Only 273 episodes to go now before we outrun Last Of The Summer Wine."
Focused on the lives of five friends in their late teens, Coming Of Age follows their struggles with college, sex, and the rest of society. Much like other BBC Three sitcoms Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps and Grownups, Coming Of Age makes heavy use of crude and shock humour; whilst it has picked up legions of dedicated fans amongst its mid-/late-teens target audience, few others are fond of the series.
We have also learned today that BBC Two's Lizzie And Sarah, penned by and starring Jessica Hynes (Spaced) and Julia Davies (Nighty Night), will not be going to series. The dark sitcom pilot followed housewives Lizzie and Sarah gunning down their emotionally abusive husbands before embarking on a killing spree.
