Chris Rock breaks UK comedy audience record
Black American stand-up comedian Chris Rock has broken the recorded for the largest audience of a comedy performance in the UK.
Rock (43), who is most noted for his highly controversial "Blacks vs. Niggers" routine, performed to an audience of 15,900 people at the O2 Arena, formerly the Millennium Dome. Late comers and early leavers were not counted. Guinness World Records were there to assure that the record had indeed been broken and announced the achievement at the end of the show.
The previous holder of the record was Lee Evans, who had performed to 10,108 at the Manchester MEN Arena in 2005. Evans will have his chance to get the record back when he plays at the O2 Arena in October.
