Jack Dee to write his memoirs

Saturday 12th April 2008, 6:04am

Deadpan stand-up comedian Jack Dee has announced that he is to write his memoirs. It is expected that they will be published in the autumn.

The book is to be published by Transworld, a publisher which has been trying to get the rights to Dee's autobiography for three years. They described the deal was struck after a "hotly contested" auction.

Susanna Wadeson, editor at Transworld said: "I have been a fan of Jack Dee for more than 20 years, and it feels like I've been chasing this book for nearly as long... We could not be more excited to be his publisher."

Dee himself said that, "I'm delighted to be associated with Transworld. Especially now I know that they are a prestigious publishing house and not a dodgy sex shop in King's Cross."

Other than his stand-up, Dee is also known for his role in his self-penned sitcom Lead Balloon. This Friday, Dee will host the first episode in the new series of Have I Got News For You. It will be his sixth time as host.
