Russell Brand in new radio controversy
Russell Brand has found himself generating newspaper headlines again, this time for some apparently unsavoury behaviour during the recording of an episode of his Radio 2 show.
According to reports in The Independent the stand-up comedian "urinated into a paper cup, to the horror of gathered studio colleagues". The Radio 2 source explained: "Brand was pre-recording his show, when he whipped out his Johnson and took a whaz into this beaker. A technician got mad and complained to Brand that he had to stop: 'I don't want my equipment damaged, and I don't want to see your penis' he said."
At this point the story takes on a darker note. The source claims that Brand then hurled a CD at the studio worker, in a "vicious frisbee-style", for daring to complain.
After admitting that Brand's show is "occasionally" pre-recorded, a spokeswoman for Radio 2 said: "Russell did urinate in a cup in the studio, someone has shown him where the toilet is." She disputed the violent outburst though, claiming Brand had actually thrown pistachio nuts at a window.
This is not the first time Brand has been involved in radio controversy. Last year an edition of his 6Music radio show was billed as live but was actually pre-recorded - and, to make matters worse, a member of staff posed as a competition winner during this show.
