Guardian Readers vote for favourite shows
Guardian readers have voted via the newspapers' media blog for their favourite shows of 2007. The highest British comedy on the list was Peep Show, which came 4th on the list. The Channel 4 sitcom also won this year's British Sitcom Guide Award for "Best Returning Sitcom". However, it was not the highest comedy, with the American/New Zealand sitcom Flight of the Conchords coming 3rd. The highest programme on the list was Doctor Who, followed by Heroes.
The next comedy on the list of readers' favourites was another sitcom, the satirical The Thick of It. The show, which came 6th, is currently up for the Broadcast Award for best comedy, to be presented tonight. In 8th place was the satirical Screenwipe presented by Guardian columnist Charlie Brooker (pictured).
The Mighty Boosh came 10th on the list, beaten into ninth by American sitcom 30 Rock. The multi-award winning Gavin and Stacey came only 20th and QI only crept into the list at 23rd.
The non-British comedies that made it onto the list were comedy dramas Californication (15th) and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (18th); sitcoms Ugly Betty (21st) and Curb Your Enthusiasm (30th); and satirical comedy The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (22nd).
Out of all the main channels, ITV1 was the only one not to have a programme listed in the top 30. The full results and commentary can be viewed on the Organ Grinder blog.
