Not Going Out gets third series
BBC One sitcom Not Going Out, starring Lee Mack, Tim Vine and Sally Bretton has been given the go ahead for a new eight episode third series.
Lucy Lumsden, the BBC controller of comedy commissioning said the show was a "perfect home" for Mack's "gag-drenched style".
Jon Thoday of the Avalon Group said he was "very pleased to be working with the BBC on another series of this very popular show."
Not Going Out is one of BBC One's most recent successful sitcom hits. It's awards include 'Best Sitcom' at the 2007 Golden Rose of Montreux awards and a breakthrough prize at the Royal Television Society Awards. It also has two nominations in this year's British Comedy Awards ('Best Actor' for Mack and 'Best New Scripted TV Comedy'). The show achieved ratings of around 3-4 million viewers regularly in its Friday night slot.
Not Going Out will also be returning for a Christmas Special this year.
