Catherine Tate stops sketch show

Catherine Tate has said she will not be making any more series of The Catherine Tate Show. The last episode will be this year's Christmas special.

Tate, who is due to become a regular star in Doctor Who, told The Daily Mirror: "It's hard to keep coming up with ideas, and I'd like to stay in people's good graces, rather than, 'Oh no, she's not doing another series of that, is she?' Nothing would make me want to disassociate myself with my show, but I am not going to box myself in. I don't want to be doing a play, and have people thinking I'm going to wink and go, 'How very dare you!' I started as an actor - and that's what I am."

It means that, in total, there will have been 20 episodes of the sketch show. This year's Christmas special will feature a flashback of Joannie "Nan" Taylor from the 1950s and it is rumored the character of gobby teenager Lauren Cooper will be killed off.
