Green Wing duo to front Barclaycard ads
The latest Barclaycard TV advertising campaign will star Julian Rhind-Tutt and Stephen Mangan from Green Wing. The advert airs on Monday, 9th October on ITV1, just after the drama ‘Life Begins’. They follow in the footsteps of a string of celebrities that have fronted Barclaycard campaigns, including Rowan Atkinson, Alan Whicker, Jennifer Aniston and most recently Jennifer Saunders.
Rhind-Tutt and Stephen Mangan have been selected to promote the Flexi-Rate product, pitched as the only credit card that charges a lower interest rate to customers who pay off a higher proportion of their outstanding balance each month. They play two friends driving across America and living out of a car. Mangan’s character is hapless and often winds up in sticky situations. Rhind-Tutt plays the more sensible, in-control character, always producing his Flexi-Rate card in the midst of sticky situations, reminding his friend about the control the card gives him.
“We are delighted that Julian and Stephen are the new faces of our latest advertising campaign. For this campaign we wanted a comic duo who would communicate the benefits of the Flexi-Rate card in a fun and visual way. The actors’ on-screen chemistry fitted the creative perfectly," says Gary Twelvetree, Brand and Advertising boss at Barclaycard.
