Not Going Out will be back for another series
Not Going Out, the sitcom starring Lee Mack, Megan Dodds and Tim Vine has been re-commissioned by the BBC.
BBC1 have asked Lee Mack and Andrew Collins (pictured) to write a seven-part second season. The writers are currently hard at work creating the new scripts with a view to start filming in July.
This news will no doubt please many fans as Not Going Out was very well received when it debuted last October. In addition Mack and Collins have been nominated for the Royal Television Society's Breakthrough Award (the awards are on the 13th March).
The basic premise of the show will remain un-changed: in series two Lee will still be living with Kate as their easy-going friendship strays further towards the un-easy territory of a relationship whilst at the same time Tim (Lee's best-friend and Kate's Ex) looks on jealously.
Andrew Collins tells us that he and Lee Mack do plan to make a couple of changes though. The character of Lee will be given a little more vocational stability and a couple of new regular characters will be introduced too. Understandably they don't want to reveal too much at this stage though.
The new series will likely be broadcast on BBC1 in October or November 2007.
There is no news yet of a DVD release for Not Going Out Series 1, however following this re-commissioning news we at The British Sitcom Guide are now predicting that a boxset will be produced to coincide with the broadcast of series two. Stay tuned for updates.
