Chris Langham charged with indecent assault

Wednesday 13th September 2006, 6:09pm

Chris Langham has been charged with eight counts of indecent assault and one other sexual offence. He was charged under the Sexual Offences Act 1956 when he answered his bail at a police station in Kent today. Mr Langham, 57, was bailed to appear before magistrates in Sevenoaks on Thursday. He was previously charged on 10th May with 15 counts of making indecent images of children.

Earlier today, the BBC announced that the actor would not feature in a Christmas edition of The Thick of It, in which he plays Government minister, Hugh Abbot. But the corporation denied that they had axed him from the show, stating that there was no place for his character in the Christmas special as it involved a behind-the-scenes look at the Opposition.

In a statement, the actor said he was "determined to clear my name."
