Corrie puts dent in After You've Gone's debut
Coronation Street's murder plotline on Friday night put a dent in the audience figures for After You've Gone, the BBC's new sitcom.
The comedy, which stars Nicholas Lyndhurst and Celia Imrie, did manage to attract 4.1 million viewers which the BBC should be fairly happy with considering the competition. This figure equates to a 16% audience share which is acceptable considering the ITV soap held a 43% share (10.8 million viewers) during the 8:30pm slot.
Elsewhere, new ITV1 comedy chat show Al Murray's Happy Hour failed to hold on to its ratings inheritance from Soapstar Superstar on Saturday. It attracted just 2.7 million viewers (a 13% share).
And looking back to Thursday - the topical panel show Mock the Week began its latest series with a respectable 2.4 million viewers (an 11% share) in the 10pm BBC2 slot.
