Shameless Series 4 Preview

Wednesday 3rd January 2007, 3:01pm

Shameless is not strictly a sitcom but as it's currently Britain's biggest comedy drama we thought you'd like to read a preview of the new series...

Series four of Paul Abbott's multi-award-winning comedy drama series Shameless, featuring the Gallaghers, will be back for eight new episodes on Channel 4 starting this Tuesday 9th.

Kidnap, Al-Qaeda, in-laws and heartbreak... it's life as normal on the Chatsworth Estate!

This series, the residents of Manchester's most outrageous estate will have two new cops to contend with when witty, smart and sexy Carrie and fresh faced Tom arrive to join forces with resident bobby Stan.

But the Gallaghers don't need to worry now they've teamed up with local gangsters the Maguires. Especially when, after a stint in prison, prodigal son Jamie Maguire arrives to set sparks flying with Karen. Then there's his brothers, the not-so bright Shane Maguire and Micky Maguire a wannabe hard man struggling with his own secrets.

Back at the Gallaghers', Frank (David Threlfall) and the kids are sent into a spin when mum Monica (Annabelle Apsion) turns up, claiming to be back for good. Surely the house is not big enough for her and her lorry driver girlfriend Norma (Dystin Johnson), and where does this leave Sheila (Maggie O'Neill) and the twins? Lip (Jody Latham) is taking his parental responsibilities seriously until thoughts of University offer him the escape route he's always wanted. Meanwhile, Ian (Gerard Kearns) is content looking for love, while Carl's (Elliott Tittensor) secret crime spree isn't leaving him nearly enough play time with the girls. Then there's Debbie (Rebecca Ryan), who has decided to interview some potential boyfriends!

Carol (Marjorie Yates) is back, but still having trouble keeping her legs and mouth shut, while Kash (Chris Bisson) is happy screwing the council. And what is the connection between Kev, Veronica, Marty, Sue and a Romanian baby?

A fun promotional website for the series has been setup at www.shamelessantisocialnetwork.com and a 'mashed up preview' can be watched by clicking here (.mov format, may take a while to download)
