Jack Whitehall to host new Channel 4 show
Jack Whitehall looks set to cement himself as one of the faces of Channel 4 comedy, as the broadcaster is developing a new show for the young comedian.
A pilot episode of Hit The Road Jack will be filmed in Essex in early March. The format sees Whitehall presenting a comedy entertainment series in a bespoke 'pop-up' studio.
The idea behind the programme is that Whitehall travels the UK with the pop-up studio. The show will then stop off in various cities where a mix of comedians and musicians will perform to a local crowd.
Producers describe the show as a "major entertainment event which will be a mix of Jack's stand-up, local celebrity guests, live music performances and larger than life local characters, celebrating the area and everything about it. Like all pop-up venues it is only there for a short time but, while it's there, it really is the place to be..."
Jack Whitehall has previously hosted a Channel 4 pilot called The Secret Census, and presented on the channel's topical comedy shows, Tonightly and TNT Show. He will also be continuing his role as one of the main comedians on Stand Up For The Week, Channel 4's topical stand-up show. It will be back for a second series in early March with Whitehall's good friend Kevin Bridges taking over from Patrick Kielty as the main host. Bridges and Whitehall will also be presenting a Comic Relief clips show together on Red Nose Day.
The pilot of Hit The Road Jack will be recorded at Festival Leisure Park in Basildon on 3rd March. To attend the recording, or to apply for tickets to Stand Up For The Week, see our free tickets page
