British comedy leads Rose d'Or nominations
British comedy series are dominating this year's Rose d'Or nominations, taking more than three quarters of the heavily sought-after spots in the two main comedic awards.
The Rose d'Or Festival, held annually in Lucerne, Switzerland, is the world's leading television festival and is host to the prestigious Golden Rose award ceremony.
Out of the 22 possible nominations, 17 are for British comedy series. In the Sitcom category, all but one of the nominations was a British sitcom.
The nominations for best sitcom are: FM, Home Time, Krod Mandoon And The Flaming Sword Of Fire, the Outnumbered Christmas special, Psychoville (pictured), The Inbetweeners and This Is Jinsy. Pete Vs Life has also been nominated, even though it has yet to be broadcast in the UK. The only non-British entry is Danish sitcom Kristian.
For the Comedy award, 9 of the 13 nominations are from the UK. The British entries are Channel 4's Comedy Gala, Facejacker, La La Land, Russell Howard's Good News, School Of Comedy, The Armstrong & Miller Show, The Impressions Show With Culshaw And Stephenson, The Kevin Bishop Show, and somewhat surprisingly The Frankie Boyle Show - another show which has yet to be broadcast.
Up against these are Benidorm Bastards from Belgium, Broken Comedy from Germany, Moist Toast from Finland and Race Relations from Australia.
Elsewhere in the nomination lists, E4's hit comedy drama Misfits (pictured) is listed in the Drama category, having picked up the BAFTA equivalent at the weekend; and the Sharon Osbourne edition of A Comedy Roast is nominated for the "Variety and Live Event Show" award. Channel 4 comedy drama Cast Offs is up for the Social Award.
This year's festival will be the 50th, taking place between the 18th and 22nd of September. The main Awards Ceremony will take place on the closing day.
