SeeSaw video website launches with 15 comedies
On-demand online TV service SeeSaw has launched in full for British internet users today, after less than a month of beta testing. The advertising-funded service has been born out of the aborted Project Kangaroo, a service that was supported by several UK broadcasters but blocked by the Competition Commission.
SeeeSaw offers viewers the chance to catch up for free on archive programmes from the BBC, Channel 4 and Five, and also aims to work as an alternative platform to watch some recently aired programmes too. The website has launched with fifteen comedy programmes, but aims to add more shortly. Most of the programmes currently on offer on SeeSaw have already been available to watch for a while for free via Channel 4's 4oD, however the service has added a number of BBC series too. The BBC comedies on offer include Bottom, That Mitchell And Webb Look (pictured), The Young Ones, Dead Ringers, Saxondale, Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle, Ideal and The League of Gentlemen.
