Steve Carell: I want to star in US version of Only Fools and Horses
American comedy actor Steve Carell, who plays the role of Michael Scott in the NBC version of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's The Office, has revealed he wants make a US version of Only Fools and Horses.
The comic actor says he would love to become a US Del Boy and thinks a re-make of the show could be huge hit on the other side of the Atlantic, just like The Office has become.
He said: "That is my dream role. The British do sitcoms better than anybody else in the world. I think with the right scriptwriters and cast we could do Only Fools and Horses justice. If anybody wants to help me do a remake, I'd love it."
Carell also said he thinks Ricky Gervais would be perfect as pub landlord Mike; Friends star Paul Rudd should play the role of Rodney; Ben Stiller could, in make-up, play Grandad; and Vince Vaughn would make a good American version of car dealer Boyce.
