Red Nose Day 2017 has raised more than £70 million for Comic Relief's charity efforts in the UK and abroad. A total of £71,308,475 had been banked at the end of Friday night's telethon, with further donations still expected (29th March update: The total now stands at £73,026,234).

Lenny Henry said: "The money you give will make things better for people with tough lives here at home and abroad and your generosity year after year proves how much more there is that unites us than divides us."

Comic Relief has raised more than £1bn since it launched in the 1980s. Further information on the projects the money is spent on can be found via ComicRelief.com
