Comedy.co.uk Awards 2016
  • The shortlists for the Comedy.co.uk Awards 2016 have been announced
  • 60 TV and radio shows are nominated across 10 categories
  • The winners are decided entirely via a public vote

The shortlists for the Comedy.co.uk Awards 2016 have been announced. Sixty TV and radio comedies, divided into 10 genre categories, are in the running to be named Comedy Of The Year 2016.

The shortlists were compiled from a public vote of every new British comedy TV and radio programme broadcast last year. Running over the past week, thousands of comedy fans took part in the poll to help whittle down the 346 nominated shows to just six in each category.

The new round of voting will now run until Sunday 22nd January, with voters asked to select which of the six shortlisted comedies in each category should win. The results - determined entirely by the public vote with no jury, weighting, or other interference - will be announced on Monday 23rd January.

British Comedy Guide's editors say: "The shortlists contain 60 brilliant shows. It's going to be incredibly tough to pick which ones to vote for! We look forward to discovering next Monday which programme will follow on from the likes of Peter Kay's Car Share, Cabin Pressure, Would I Lie To You?, The Thick Of It and Peep Show to be named Comedy Of The Year."

This is the 11th year British Comedy Guide has run its awards. Television event The British Comedy Awards have not taken place since 2014, making the Comedy.co.uk Awards one of the only chances for British comedy programmes and those who create and star in them to be celebrated, and the only awards in which the results are decided by the audience.

The nominees list can be seen in full below, or viewed by taking part in the vote.
