New comedy video website launches
Hoot Comedy, a new website offering comedy video clips, has launched today. The website has been set up witht the aim of "providing the UK's top comedy talent with a place to experiment with new characters and new ideas, free from restrictive guidelines."
This new venture is the creation of comedians James Rawlings and Ben Bond, and producer Ben Thompson. Hoot Comedy has launched with six videos starring the likes of Alex MacQueen, Ben Willbond, Laura Solon and Emma Fryer and, over the coming months, it promises to "publish more brand new comedy, for free, every week with established and new talent alike."
Fresh from BBC2's Home Time, Emma Fryer and long time collaborator Neil Edmond present their latest creation on Hoot Comedy. The Saint follows intimate Skype conversations, and finds out first hand just how altruistic some people really are.
Meanwhile double Perrier winning team Laura Solon and Bill Willbond reprise their popular characters Peter & Alison for Hoot. First seen on ITV2 sketch show Laura, Ben & Him, Peter and Alison are a bickering middle class couple. They're now suffering in the Credit Crunch: Peter's lost his job at his bank so, during the series, they will be trying to get themselves out of a perfect financial storm by becoming the internet's answer to Richard and Judy, advising the many middle class people in the same boat how to get through it.
Another series launching today on the website is Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of the Turkish Spoon. Written by Ben Bond & James Rawlings, and directed by BAFTA winning animation director Jim le Fevre, the series follows Watson and Sherlock travelling the globe, taking as many drugs as possible to solve the mystery of the Turkish Spoon.
