Adam and Joe to quit BBC 6 Music?
There is speculation that double-act Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish, best known as 'Adam and Joe', may not return to BBC 6 Music after Christmas.
MediaGuardian is reporting that the award-winning duo are planning to take an 'indefinite sabbatical' from the station. If true, this news will come as a big blow to 6 Music, as Adam and Joe are easily the station's biggest stars.
The Adam and Joe Show, which is broadcast on the station every Saturday morning between 10am and 1pm, attracts an average weekly audience of 624,000 listeners. However, reports suggest the presenters are to go on 'indefinite leave', because of other work commitments. There is some credibility to these claims as Cornish has recently worked on the screenplay of Steven Spielberg's new Tintin movie and is about to direct a film. Meanwhile Buxton is set to star in a new sitcom called The Persuasionists, and is working on other comedy projects too.
Station controller Bob Shennan says: "We look forward to welcoming Adam & Joe back to 6 Music early next year as they remain absolutely committed to the network. We are happy to have someone as brilliant as Danny Wallace keeping their seats warm at the Big British Castle whilst they are away." However, a spokesman for 6 Music was unable to confirm a return date for Adam and Joe.
There will be a pre-recorded Adam & Joe programme on 6 Music on Boxing Day.
