Detectorists has gained three nominations in the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards.

The organisation, which is made up of journalists and critics writing about television and radio in the UK, was founded in 1974.

Created, written and directed by Mackenzie Crook, Detectorists is a slow-paced BBC Four sitcom following treasure-hunting hobbyists Andy and Lance, played by Crook and Toby Jones.

The nominations for the series follows it having won Best New TV Sitcom in the 2014 Comedy.co.uk Awards last month. After wide critical praise for the first series, a second will be filmed this summer for broadcast later in the year.

The series is nominated in the Best Comedy/Entertainment category; for Toby Jones as Best Actor; and Mackenzie Crook[/z] for Best Writer.

Other programmes nominated for the Best Comedy/Entertainment award are Harry And Paul's Story Of The 2s, Rev., The Trip To Italy, and W1A - all from BBC Two, in its 50th birthday year.

Those nominated against Mackenzie Crook for the Best Writer title include Sally Wainwright, for comic drama Last Tango In Halifax and police drama series Happy Valley. Sarah Lancashire, the star of both Wainwright series, is nominated as Best Actress.

The Best Actor nominees are Toby Jones; James Nesbitt, for Channel 4 comedy drama Babylon; and David Threlfall for the ITV biopic Tommy Cooper: Not Like That, Like This.

Tommy Cooper: Not Like That, Like This also receives a nomination for the Best Single Drama prize, whilst Dave Allen: God's Own Comedian will compete for Best Single Documentary.

Additionally, the category of Best Multichannel Programme sees nominations for Discovery Channel documentary Ebola Exposed, and three comedies from Dave: Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled; Crackanory; and Dave Gorman: Modern Life Is Goodish.

BBC iPlayer's online Comedy and Drama Shorts receive a joint nomination for the Innovation in Broadcasting - Online First Award title.

The winners will be announced on Friday March 13th 2015 at a lunch in central London. To see the full list of nominees across all genres visit the
