Rich Hall to present new comedy pilot Search History
Stand-up comedian Rich Hall will host the pilot episode of Search History, a new comedy format based around internet search engines.
Producers explain: "Search History is about all the weird and wonderful questions that people have been searching for on the internet. Millions of people type questions into search engines every single day and the most-asked questions pop-up as suggested 'autocompletes' in which the search engine tries to predict what you're trying to ask."
They add that the host will be looking at "the funny and surreal things that people search for and the even funnier and more surreal suggestions that the search engine provides for them".
The pilot episode is set to be recorded at Pinewood Studios tonight (Tuesday 10th February). It has not yet been revealed which TV station the show is aimed at. Further details are expected to be announced if the pilot is successful and the format is picked up for a series.
Rich Hall is an American comedian who has lived on-and-off in the UK for over 20 years. Aside from his live shows, he has performed on many TV shows, including hosting an episode of Live At The Apollo and appearing as a regular for three series of Stand Up For The Week. He has recently been trying his hand at acting and- can be seen in tonight's episode of ITV2 sitcom Cockroaches as the character Pete.
Search History appears to be the latest incarnation of a project that has been in the pipeline for a while. Last year Jon Richardson fronted a non-broadcast pilot for Channel 4 titled Jon Richardson's Unpredictable. It saw him look at "the funniest and the most unpredictable questions that people ask on internet search engines".
Search History is one of a number of internet-based projects in development. Others include Delete Delete Delete, in which Rhod Gilbert looks at guests' internet history; and Trending Topics, a topical panel show linked to Twitter.
