Movie version of The Inbetweeners in production
The writers of E4 sitcom The Inbetweeners have confirmed they are penning a film version of the hit TV sitcom. The Press Association reports that Damon Beesley and Iain Morris have been commissioned by Film4 to write a movie script featuring the characters from the E4 sitcom.
The writers say they are considering setting the film around a holiday for the lads. Morris said: "We always try and make the show as real as we can, and we think the boys of that age tend to go on holiday abroad - we think a film could do justice to that. Most films, I understand, never get made, but that's what we're doing."
However, they may have stiff competition from some of the show's stars. The writers say that Simon Bird, who plays Will, and Joe Thomas, who plays Simon, have written a "brilliant" script, which is "annoyingly funnier" than their own work.
Meanwhile the TV series of The Inbetweeners continues to pick up awards. Last night it was named best comedy at the TV Quick & TV Choice Awards.
