Comedy stars submit to viewers' tasks for Stand Up To Cancer
Russell Howard, Al Murray, Greg Davies, Russell Kane and Rhod Gilbert are amongst the comedians set to take part in a new Channel 4 show called Stars At Your Service.
The format, which is part of the network's Stand Up To Cancer fundraising drive, allows viewers to request the stars' undertake tasks. The "highly interactive primetime entertainment show" will give viewers "an incredibly rare opportunity to pick from a range of celebrities and submit a task that they'd like them to do, in order to fulfil their wishes".
Channel 4 says: "The best ideas will be filmed for the show and new stars will regularly be added to the website. Best of all - it's to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer."
To apply to get a star to be at your service, and to make an optional donation, viewers should visit channel4.com/stars
The organisers say: "The more imaginative the idea, the better! Those with the most entertaining propositions will see their requests become reality as the stars are put to work with funny, sublime or just plain ridiculous results. Viewers will also have the chance to win money can't buy experiences throughout the series."
Actor Warwick Davis, Countdown's Rachel Riley and Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington are amongst the other celebrities taking part, with Channel 4 saying it has many more star names still to announce.
Justin Gorman, Head of Entertainment for Channel 4, says: "We were looking for a highly innovative and arresting concept to kick start Stand Up To Cancer and Stars At Your Service is exactly that. The show will allow the public to interact with their favourite faces like never before whilst drumming up support and, crucially, raising funds for a fantastic cause."
C4 commissioner Madeleine Knight adds: "As the lead-in series to Stand Up To Cancer, Stars At Your Service will raise awareness for the campaign, making the SU2C event this year even bigger and more ambitious than its debut in 2012."
Nick Mather, from production company Remarkable Television, comments: "The interactivity central to Stars At Your Service puts the Great British public in complete control. I have huge faith in their creativity and cannot wait to see what they have in store for our stars."
Stars At Your Service, a six-part series, will be broadcast in the lead-up to Stand Up To Cancer, which has been scheduled for Friday 17th October. You can visit the website now to submit your ideas for the comedians: channel4.com/stars
