Here is a guide to BBC One's autumn 2009 comedy and entertainment line-up:

Big Top

A 'colourful upbeat sitcom' set around a circus starring Amanda Holden, John Thomson and Tony Robinson. Filmed in front of a live studio audience.

The performers and crew include a grumpy clown who hasn't a funny bone in his body; cynical soundman Erasmus; Georgie, the Grande Dame of Circus Maestro; and Boyco, the dazzlingly talented East European acrobat who is incredibly naive about the ways of the English world. Our Guide

Series Three of the award-winning sitcom. As Gavin starts his new job, the move to Barry Island means big changes for the whole family. Following a triumphant first season on BBC One, comic quiz QI returns to the channel with 16 new episodes. This seventh series covers the letter 'G' and features such unpromising subjects as Geography, Greek, Geometry, Gravity and Groceries.

Joining Stephen and Alan for a baptism of klaxons will be regular guests like Bill Bailey and David Mitchell, plus first-timers Graham Norton, Sue Perkins, Jack Dee, Barry Humphries, Sandi Toksvig and David Tennant. Our Guide

Following the successful pilot earlier in the year, Walk On The Wild Side, a comedy suitable for all the family, returns to BBC One for a full series. The show sees a team of comedians providing voice-overs for BBC wildlife photography.

Regulars on the show include Jason Manford, Isy Suttie and Steve Edge; whilst special guest voiceovers will include Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Stephen Fry and Rolf Harris. Our Guide

Also in BBC One's Autumn 2009 season is a witty serial adaptation of Jane Austen's comic masterpiece Emma; a romantic comedy series called Material Girl; plus Frank Skinner and Lee Mack undertake the first leg of Around The World In 80 Days, a series aiming to re-enact the epic odysseys of Phileas Fogg and Michael Palin.
