Amy Annette: Thick Skin
Thick Skin is a nostalgic but sharp-edged dive into the chaos that was the 2000s. Amy takes audiences on a hilarious journey through body image trauma, questionable fashion choices (we see you, ballet flats), and cringe-worthy teenage memories of being in love with (David Suchet's) Hercule Poirot. Whether you remember the era of Trinny and Susannah, or are just discovering what it means to survive the worst of the 00s (with the return of Y2K trends in 2025), this show is packed with Amy's signature warmth, feminist edge, and big laughs.
Amy says: "The minute I saw a visible thong poking out of a cargo pant, I knew. Y2k was back. Thick Skin is a show about surviving the 00s, with tips and tricks for the brave younger generations facing down a new decade of boho skirts and pointless belts. You don't have to be a millennial to enjoy this show but, if you remember girls magazines (aka sneakily reading 'position of the week' in the newsagent) it's imperative you attend. I'm so excited to start my tour of Thick Skin at the Soho Theatre - I did the Soho Rising course in 2016 - so bringing my debut hour here feels like a homecoming, and it's the perfect place to start my tour, across the UK, in May!"
