Amir Dean (Lady Bushra)
One random comedian, eight random questions; it's the ultimate test of funny person and fate. This week that funny person needs no introduction - because they're doing it themselves.
"Hello British Comedy Guide! My name is Amir, I'm a drag comedian who goes by the name Lady Bushra and I'm coming to a city near you, with my tour Saree About It."
That tour begins tonight, in Liverpool, followed by Manchester, Sheffield and London. Exciting times - but who exactly is Amir Dean's alter-ego, and what does that show involve?
"Lady Bushra is Vicky Pollard meets Bollywood whereas my tour will be something like 'YouTube meets comedy meets intrusive thoughts'. Expect to see a saree-clad bearded beauty talking all things from a British Asian perspective - but with a digital twist!"
And, let's face it, we don't expect to see that every day. Amir 'Lady Bushra' Dean, your Random 8 await.
Who was your childhood hero (real or fictional)?
My childhood hero was (and still is!) a Bollywood actress called Madhuri. She is the epitome of grace and excellence. Oh, and also RuPaul... I say that because I really need to get on Drag Race. Hashtag manifesting.
What's the weirdest thing in your wardrobe?
A saree. Could you imagine such a thing? No wonder my dad hates me.
Which unsung town deserves more attention?
My beloved hometown of Keighley needs more attention... also an intervention.
What's the best thing you ever bought a ticket for?
The singer Sian Evans (Kosheen). I didn't know her but screamed her name constantly throughout her performance anyway. I think it made her day.
Ever met a surprisingly great/disappointing famous person?
I met Claudia Winkleman a few years ago. Totally worth it. The fringe was banging.
Your most memorable injury?
My most memorable injury was burning over 60% of my body when I was around 8... but now is not the time for trauma dumping!
What's the worst job you've ever had?
Selling sim cards outside a corner shop. It was a snowy day in February, one person walked past me and uttered the word 'bless' under their breath. Ouch.
Who are you most envious of?
I'm envious of Angelina Jolie. She has my eyes, figure, hair, and children.
