One random comedian, eight random questions: it's the ultimate test of funny person and fate. This week's stalwart wit is Andy Hamilton: writer of such acclaimed concoctions as Old Harry's Game and The Million Pound Radio Show, for radio; Drop The Dead Donkey and Outnumbered, for TV; and What We Did On Our Holiday, for proper cinemas, and now Netflix.

Andy is also a regular face on Have I Got News For You, and the like, and is now a live act too, although he's resisted the urge to just tour as Hamilton, as it may do wonders for ticket sales but then lead to some bemusement, a few minutes in.

So what actually is Hamilton up to, in the near future?

"I'm doing two charity shows for Parkinson's UK and Target Ovarian Cancer at North Finchley on 18 April and Newbury on 25 April," he says. "Then I'm doing a radio series - Andy Hamilton Sort Of Remembers - and then, from 12 May, I'm on tour. That's about it, apart from that, I'm waiting to hear."

Andy Hamilton

Who was your childhood hero?

Jimmy Greaves. When he played for Chelsea. Why? Because he was a god, and I was five.

What's the most regrettable thing you ever bought?

A jury.

Which historical figure should get more attention?

King Trevor the Third. Never heard of him? Exactly.

What's the oddest thing you've ever eaten?

A fruit bat. Disappointingly, it didn't taste of fruit.

Ever walked out of a film?

No. I would have walked out of Titanic, but I'd lost the will to live.

What's the best room you've ever been in?

Theresa May's panic room (long stay).

Which book should we all read?

The Bible. It's a hoot.

What's the best thing you ever wrote?

Oh shucks, I don't know. Really, I've no idea. I can't remember most of it.
