Line-up for Brighton Comedy Festival 2012
The Brighton Comedy Festival returns this October - and this year it's presenting its biggest and most starry line-up ever.
The festival, which attracts around 30,000 visitors during its 16 day run, will continue its expansion into Hove and beyond, holding events in the Brighton Dome, Pavilion Theatre and Corn Exchange as well as The Old Market and Komedia.
Performers who will be putting on shows include (in alphabetical order): Abandoman, Andi Osho, Andrew Lawrence, Ava Vidal, Carl Donnelly, Chris Ramsey, Dara O'Briain, David O'Doherty, Fred MacAulay, Frisky & Mannish, Greg Davies, Jack Dee, Jason Byrne, Jenny Éclair, Jon Richardson, Josh Widdicombe, Kevin Bridges, Marcel Lucont, Marcus Brigstocke, Mark Thomas, Mark Watson, Nick Helm, Pappy's, Paul Chowdhry, Piff the Magic Dragon, Richard Herring, Rob Rouse, Robin Ince, Ross Noble, Russell Kane, Sara Pascoe, Seann Walsh, Shappi Khorsandi, Simon Evans, Stephen K Amos and Tim Key.
The festival organisers say there are even more names yet to be announced. Ticket prices range from £8 to £25.
Booking is also now up-and-running for the opening night Gala at Brighton Dome on October 5th, which is being held in aid of the Sussex Beacon charity. The show will be hosted by Alan Carr (pictured), and the chatty man will be accompanied on stage by acts including Jo Brand, Abandoman, Paul Chowdhry and 'local boys' Seann Walsh and Simon Evans. The £25 tickets can be booked via the festival's official website.
Like The Leicester Comedy Festival, this year Brighton are working in partnership with TV channel Dave. Organisers say: "Returning in October with a stellar line up that is literally bigger than ever, Dave's Brighton Comedy Festival is proud to be the funniest event to happen beside the sea. It's the festival accompanied by a health warning to watch out for juicy bits falling from the sky as the seagulls guffaw so much they drop their lollipops!"
As previously reported, the festival will also be launching its first ever new talent competition this year called 'The Squawkers'. A series of heats will be held throughout Brighton in September, with the winner taking home a cash prize and the opportunity to perform at the 'Best of the Fest' show on the final night of the Festival.
