The Stand Up Sketch Show comes to the West End stage
- ITV2's The Stand Up Sketch Show is coming to the stage
- A live version of the hit TV format will debut in November
- The West End adaptation promises stand-up comedy, sketch performance and "a new improvisational element"
The Stand Up Sketch Show is to launch a live stage show in November.
Made by Spirit Media, the award-winning format sees top comedians' stand-up tales recreated as sketches. To date, it has run for six series on ITV2 and been sold across the world.
Producers have now announced a stage version of the comedy series will open at the Lyric Theatre in the heart of London's West End in November, in conjunction with live promoter Entertainers.
Spirit say: "The adaptation promises to capture the unique blend of stand-up comedy and sketch performances that have made the series a hit with audiences around the world but will also feature a new improvisational element.
"The Stand Up Sketch Show features the best comedians on the circuit performing their finest stand-up comedy routines in sketch form in front of a live audience, before shifting into outrageous reconstructions of their material."
Casting for the show is currently underway, whilst the TV series' long list of regular, ensemble and guest appearances ranges from Maisie Adam, Russell Kane and Judi Love to Naz Osmanoglu, Elf Lyons, Janine Harouni and Nigel Ng.
"We're thrilled to bring The Stand Up Sketch Show to the West End, giving audiences a chance to experience the same dynamic blend of stand-up and sketch comedy that has resonated so strongly on TV, but now with the added excitement of live, improvisational elements," said Matt Campion, Creative Director and co-founder of Spirit Studios.
James Taylor, Director of Entertainers, adds: "This is an exciting time for Entertainers. We are very proud to be working with such a fantastic company in Spirit Studios and looking forward to working together as we expand our offering as one of the leading theatre producers in the country."
The Stand Up Sketch Show was created by Campion and Pete Strauss. Tickets will be released alongside further detail of the run in the coming months.
