Tom Towelling wins Musical Comedy Awards 2024

Tom Towelling has been named the winner of the Musical Comedy Awards 2024.
He triumphed at the live final which took place at London's Bloomsbury Theatre tonight (13th April).
Towelling, who was previously one half of award winning double act Good Kids, presented a set in which he sung a song about the King and tested different stage entrances on the audience.
Keyboard playing Anna Hale was named the runner-up by the judges, and also took home the Audience Favourite award.
Luke Nixon, performing as geology teacher character Jim Midge, took the third place spot.
The other finalists who progressed through the heats and semi-finals to gain places in the final were Emily Cairns, Alex Camp, Jay Bennett (as Frank Friendzione), Sang Don Park, Ash Weir, Luc Valvona (as Baron Fortitude), Lila Robirosa, Ben Pollard and Amelia Bayler. Each had 7 minutes on stage.
The final also featured a performance from The Queens of Cups - Erin Holland and Grace O'Keefe - who had been selected for the Best Newcomer prize.
The judges were Lynne Parker (Funny Women), Hollie Ebdon (agent), Steve Garland (agent) and Mark Boosey (British Comedy Guide).
The competition, which is sponsored by WeGotTickets, is now in its 16th year. The show was hosted by Nick Horseman and also featured a headline set from Fjord (Barney Fishwick and Will Hislop).
