- 1st: Burger And A Pint (Ted Milligan & James Trickey)
- 2nd: Jonathan Oldfield
- 3rd: Mudfish (Molly Windust & Dan Bishop)
Ted Milligan and James Trickey have won the Leicester Square Theatre's competition for sketch and character acts.
The duo, who perform under the name Burger And A Pint, triumphed at tonight's Sketch Off! live final with a series of fast-paced sketches on topics such as Monopoly and Fagin. They took home the trophy and £500 cash prize.
The industry judges picked Jonathan Oldfield as the runner-up, taking home £250. Molly Windust and Dan Bishop - who perform under the name Mudfish - took home the £150 third place prize.
This was the 8th year of the competition. The final was hosted by Sam Nicoresti and also featured a set by last year's winner, Ellie BW.
The other finalists were Dirty Laundry (Maddie London, Robbie Boyd, Emily Symington), Ozzy Algar, Max Devine, Jake Detenber, Finlay & Joe (Finlay Stroud & Joe Peden), Katie McLeod (as Karismaaa) and Eva & Hudson (Eva Wallis and Hudson Hughes).
The judging panel consisted of Amy Gledhill (comedian), Tim Harding (Chortle), Gemma Leader (Above Your Nerve), Mark Boosey (British Comedy Guide) and Bruce Dessau (Beyond The Joke).
Promoter David Hardcastle comments: "I couldn't be happier. A sold out show, a lovely enthusiastic audience and the acts all had a great time. It feels like there's a lot of enthusiasm for more alternative acts at the moment so it's nice to be able to provide a platform for them. Looking forward to next year already!"
Hardcastle is now organising Museum of Comedy Presents..., a series of gigs across April to July "featuring the finest sketch, character and the just plain bonkers acts on the circuit". A number of previous Sketch Off! finalists are due to take part.
