- Winner: Andrew Fox
- Runners-up: Amelia Hamilton, James Danielewski, Matthew Ali
Stand-up comedian Andrew Fox has won the Komedia New Comedy Award competition for 2024.
He triumphed in a final which took place last night (15th February) at the Brighton-based venue.
The comic's five minute set saw him joking about his upbringing and height. On accepting the award and thanking the venue and organisers, he commented: "'I'm shocked to my core!", before jokingly adding "It's only because I'm wearing lucky socks".
The judges also selected three joint runners-up: Amelia Hamilton, James Danielewski and Matthew Ali.
The competition was setup by Komedia, Comic Boom comedy club (run by Jill Edwards) and arts journalist Victoria Nangle in 2020 to discover and support up-and-coming comedians.
The final was hosted by Barry Ferns and featured a headline set from last year's winner, Sam Williams. The other contestants to make it through the previous rounds to perform at the final were Alex Mason, Archit Goenka, Steph Cassin, Harrison Thomas and Claire Carty.
The judging panel comprised of Marina Kobler (Komedia Brighton co-founder), Lex Hollingworth (Komedia MD), Misti Heslop (Komedia Events), Lulu Baker (BBC Studios), Tasha Dhanraj (comedy writer), Bruce Dessau (Beyond the Joke), Steve Bennett (Chortle) and Victoria Nangle (arts journalist).
