Comedian Amy Webber has won the Dabbers Social Bingo competition, to be their Next Top Bingo Caller.

The annual contest sees the London venue - which is aiming to modernise the gambling game and bring the format to a younger audience - run a series of heats and a final to locate someone to be their next star caller.

Talking about this year's final, the competition organisers say: "Playing to a sold-out crowd, Amy won over her spectators by bringing her unique musical-comedy act to the fore, in a performance which includes an element of comedic-opera singing - a talent that mixes surprisingly well into the bingo-calling mix.

"Having secured the most audience votes on July 2nd; Amy has now officially been named as Dabbers Next Top Bingo Caller and alongside her new title, she wins a £1000 courtesy of sponsors, Malibu - and a luxurious hotel stay - plus a 12-month contract with Dabbers Social Bingo. And of course, she will get the opportunity to reinvent, transform and revamp the sought-after position of Bingo Caller."

Webber says: "I am absolutely elated. I'm flattered that the audience voted me as the winner. All the finalists were unique and amazing performers, and I still can't believe it was me who won. I'll be putting the money towards performing at Edinburgh Fringe this August. It's my first time going up and taking my own show so I'm pretty nervous about it - having this financial help is a fantastic and unexpected windfall."

Her Edinburgh show, Amy Webber: No Previous Experience, will be at Just The Tonic at The Mash House at 2:40pm from 3rd to 27th August.

Hosted by Sikisa, the Sunday night final also featured a judging panel including Kate Daughton (Boffola Pictures), Miles Baron (Bingo Association executive) and Hannah Byczkowski (comedian and star of The Traitors).
