Freddie 'Parrot Face' Davies, the comedian who has been entertaining audiences since the 1950s, has organised a tour titled Legends Of Variety.

The sixteen-date tour, which kicks off in Bradford on the 18th May, is billed "a show that is sure to bring back memories of the good old days of the variety circuit and live entertainment."

Norwich, Peterborough, Kings Lynn, Blackpool, Southsea, Whitley Bay, Darlington, Stockport, Barnstaple, Poole, Nottingham, Stafford, Gravesham, Ipswich and Coventry also feature in the list of dates.

Davies will be joined each night by singer and entertainer Anita Harris, plus Bernie Clifton, who is best known for his work with his puppet costume Oswald the Ostrich.

Multiple guest stars will also be present across the tour dates, with Bobby Crush, Tommy Cannon, Paul Zenon, Billy Pearce, Jon Courtenay and comedy rock band The Grumbleweeds amongst those signed up to appear at certain nights.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, Davies said: "I can't wait to get going. We are all still going strong and can't wait for curtain up. I don't think any of us ever imagined we would still be performing in our 80s but it keeps us young."

Bernie Clifton added: "It should be a fantastic success. All we need now is bums on seats. We are billed as legends of variety but I think it should be leg ends with verrucas. I think it's a great idea. Freddie deserves a lot of credit because he realised we weren't as busy as perhaps we would like to be so he decided to give this a go. It will be great to see people out having fun in the theatre again."

Talking about how the audience are in for a good time, Anita Harris commented: "It is a wonderful idea and the matinee shows are brilliant. It's wonderful to get out and come to see a live show. They can come along, meet friends, have a bite to eat and see a live show. What could be better? I have toured recently in my own show and doing live work certainly keeps you young. We all know each - Freddie, Bernie and I - down the years so it will be wonderful to get back together in some good theatres."
