Ellie BW wins Sketch Off 2023
- 1st: Ellie BW
- 2nd: Lorna Rose Treen
- 3rd: Andrew Doherty
Ellie BW has won the Leicester Square Theatre Sketch Off! 2023 final.
She performed at the final in character as a seedy man called Howard.
Aside from the glory and a trophy, she has won a £500 cash prize and her own comedy showcase. Thanking everyone involved, she mentioned Piñata, the alternative comedy night she produces, saying "Come to Piñata, which is how I started performing."
The judges picked Lorna Rose Treen - who performed as a Brownie - as the runner-up, winning her £250.
Andrew Doherty took home the third place certificate, and £150.
This is the seventh year of the Leicester Square Theatre Sketch Off! competition, which has morphed from just being about sketch acts to a contest which now bills itself as a "showcase for the UK's best up-and-coming sketch artists and character acts".
The live show took place this afternoon (Saturday 1st April) at the London-based venue, with Anna Mann hosting, and the audience treated to a headline set from reigning champions Low Effort Sketches.
The other acts to make it through the Museum Of Comedy heats to the final were Charlie Vero-Martin, Will BF, Jimmy Judges (as cutlery safety expert Ian Crawford), Mad Ron, Derek Mitchell, Stepan Mysko von Schultze and Preppers (consisting of Stuart Laws and Matt Sandstorm).
