Dan Tiernan wins British Comedian Of The Year 2022 competition
- Dan Tiernan has won the £10,001 prize in the British Comedian Of The Year competition
- 2nd: Larry Dean. 3rd: Andrew White. 4th: Ian Stone
Dan Tiernan has won the British Comedian Of The Year competition.
The stand-up also recently triumphed in the BBC New Comedian Of The Year contest.
Unlike most other stand-up competitions, the British Comedian Of The Year contest - which organisers describe as "the FA Cup of Comedy" - is open to comedian of all levels. Notably, it has one of the biggest prizes in comedy, with £10,001 - £1 more than the Edinburgh Comedy Awards main prize - available to the winner. Last year's victor, Jeff Innocent, handed over the cheque to Tiernan.
The tightly fought contest saw Larry Dean placing second, Andrew White third and Ian Stone fourth.
The final, which took place at London's Comedy Store last night (Wednesday 23rd), also featured Jack Gleadow, Kev Mud, Leah Davis, Serena Smart and Steve Gribbin.
The organisers say: "Everyone did brilliantly and a special mention to MC Paul Revill. We'll have a couple of hours off then start organising next year. We're like Santa!"
