Katie Pritchard has been named as the winner of the New Act Comedy Competition at London's 2Northdown.
The venue's inaugural competition involved two months of heats to whittle down 120 entrants to 11 acts, who were then invited to compete in the Grand Final.
The venue explains: "The competition aims to identify and nurture some of London's finest new comedy talent, giving its entrants a platform to perform to a live audience, and a panel of well known members of the industry from Assembly Rooms, Avalon, Chambers, InterTalent Group, Kilimanjaro Live and Phil McIntyre."
The first heat, held in December, was open to all types of comedy acts who were given five minutes to perform their material. The comedians ranked most highly by both the audience and the industry judges progressed to the next stage.
Following a "tough" final which took place at the venue in King's Cross, Katie Pritchard was picked as the winner.
Pritchard, who is also a finalist in the forthcoming Musical Comedy Awards 2019, took home the £500 cash prize and a paid spot on a 2Northdown show. The venue says: "Katie wowed the audience with her absurd and delightful musical history lesson."
Chloe Petts was named runner-up. The other finalists were Ania Magliano, Sam Lake, Harry Monaghan, Becky Mott, Toussaint Douglass, Jake Baker, Janine Harouni, Marc Jennings and Jen Ives.
